The Kalamazoo Creamery, rising from a vacant brownfield, is a 59,420-square-foot, three-story mixed-use building. The project design includes 10,500 square feet of commercial space, including a YWCA Children’s Center and business space, with the remaining 48,920 square feet dedicated to creating 48 new mixed-income apartments. The design includes a fitness room for residents on the north end of the building, with a window overlooking the street below as well as a resident hangout room with a porch on the third floor. This high-efficiency design features rooftop solar panels, a green roof and rainwater reuse systems.
